Thigh Lift

The purpose of thigh lift surgery is to remove the excess skin or fat in the thigh, giving it a smoother, younger-looking appearance. Patients can choose between the medial and outer thigh lift surgeries. This procedure is more common among people who have lost a lot of weight. The thigh lift surgery is usually performed in the lower part of the thigh which may include abdominoplasty and buttock lift as well.

Recovery From Thigh Lift 

Stitches are removed within 7 to 14 days after the surgery. The final result of thigh lift surgery appears within a few weeks, but improving the site of the incision can last up to one year.

Prior to surgery, the doctor examines the person’s health problems, his medications, and previous treatments. He also examines the lower parts of the abdomen and body. The person is also needed to undergo several medical tests and photography to examine the person overall health before and after the surgery.

Before, During and After Thigh Lift

Before the Procedure

One needs to avoid smoking and drinking alcohol the day before the surgery, and taking certain drugs such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements. If there is a particular issue, the surgeon will consult it with the person.

During the Procedure

This procedure has various variations and the type of surgery depends on the desired outcome. People usually choose between the medial and outer thigh lift.

In the medial surgery, the surgeon makes an incision on both sides of the pudendum and removes the excess skin and fat. The remaining skin then will be closed by stitches. Most people select this type of surgery due to the less visible scars.

In the outer surgery, the surgeon makes an incision on the upper part of the thigh and the leg and removes the excess skin and fat while the skin is pulled on both sides of the leg. This type of surgery is recommended for those who have lost a lot of weight. However, the scars are more visible in this surgery.

This procedure entails general anesthesia and lasts up to 1 or 2 hours.

After the Procedure 

After the surgery, the person should constantly use the antibacterial ointment and clean the surgical site for the first week. It is also necessary to use a pressure-relief garment for 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery.
